"The Torah With Graphic Storytelling" is an ambitious project that visualizes every single verse of the Pentateuch (Torah)—4,993 verses in total—for the first time in history. Volume 6, Parashat Toledot, covers Genesis 25:19–28:9, depicting the dramatic story of Isaac and Rebekah's household: the birth of twins Esau and Jacob, the sale of the birthright, the theft of the blessing, and Jacob's flight to Haran.

This report is prepared to ensure transparency regarding the production process of this project, clarifying how the work was created for readers and viewers.


1. Production Process and AI Usage

1.1 Image Generation (Visual Production)

All illustrations in this book and related videos are produced using state-of-the-art generative AI technology.

  • Technology Used: Multiple AI image generation models are combined to create scenes based on each verse of the biblical text.

  • Production Workflow:

    1. Each verse is carefully examined using the Hebrew text, along with major English and Japanese translations, to extract the scenes, characters, and actions to be depicted.

    2. Historical and archaeological research (ancient Mesopotamian clothing, architecture, landscapes, etc.) is conducted and reflected in the prompts.

    3. Generated images are carefully selected and edited to maintain consistent character design and narrative continuity.

    4. Manual adjustments and corrections are made as needed to achieve final image quality and composition.

1.2 Narration Audio

The narration audio featured in YouTube videos is recorded by a professional human narrator. Careful attention is given to the pronunciation of biblical names and terminology, with emphasis placed on emotional expression that matches the dramatic flow of the narrative. After recording, the audio undergoes editing and synchronization with the visuals.

1.3 Production Team

  • Author / Producer: Naohiro Ishikawa — responsible for overall structure, scriptwriting, prompt engineering, editing, and quality control.

  • Production Period: A development period of approximately five years established the foundation for the full 54-volume series.


2. Content Accuracy and Reliability

2.1 Textual Fidelity

  • Illustrations and narration are strictly based on the New Japanese Translation (or major English Bible translations) .

  • Each scene is visualized with consideration for the nuances and cultural background of the original Hebrew text.

4. Series Features and Intent

4.1 Project Purpose

Author Naohiro Ishikawa states:

"I wanted to create an experience where people can see the ancient landscapes and characters with their own eyes as they read the Bible."

With this vision, the project's primary goal is to make the world of the Bible visually accessible — transforming text that is difficult to imagine into a visually immersive experience.

4.2 Accessible to Everyone

  • The work is designed to be understood without specialized biblical knowledge, using plain language and intuitive visuals.

  • The manga/graphic novel style with speech bubbles and panel pacing makes the narrative flow easy to follow naturally.

4.3 Complete Verse Coverage

Rather than a "digest" or summary, every single verse of Genesis (Volume 6 covers 25:19–28:9) is visualized without omission. This ensures the biblical story is presented as a whole, not in fragments.
